The VCP10-33 is a coaxial connector designed for radio-frequency applications. It’s a surface-mount type and well-suited for use in high-density PCB applications. The connector is manufactured using a nickel-plated brass body, providing excellent shielding performance, and a gold plated centre contact.

Application field

The VCP10-33 is designed for radio-frequency applications and can be used for a variety of purposes. It is most commonly employed in high-density PCBs, such as those meant for communication systems, industrial computer systems, RFID systems, and medical/telemedicine applications.

The VCP10-33 connector is suitable for connecting shielded cables to PCBs, being extremely durable and providing excellent electrical performance. It is also useful in cable-to-cable applications where it can be used to connect coaxial cables in order to provide a stable connection.

Working principle

The VCP10-33 is designed to use a standard coaxial connection, essentially consisting of two concentric conduits separated by an appropriate insulator. A conducting outer conductor made from a metal such as Brass with a Nickel finish is connected to the PCB and encapsulated in a special mould, creating the connector. This outer conductor forms an electrical shield and provides a linear path for the radio frequency energy to flow in and out of the connector.

An inner conductor, typically Gold plated, is connected to the signal wire from the board’s circuitry and enclosed inside the insulator. Both the inner and outer conductors are designed in such a way as to minimize interference and attenuation. When a compatible connector is mated, the two inner conductors come into contact with one another, effectively creating a connection.
