VEP24US24 Application Field and Working Principle
VEP24US24 is a DC-DC converter of AC/DC Desktop, Wall Adapters offered by Switching Power. It has smart power management function, ultra low ripple and noise, and up to 93% efficiency.
The VEP24US24 Module operates from an input voltage up to 24 VDC and provides an adjustable output voltage or current from 0.8 V up to 28 V. This wide input and output voltage range makes it applicable in many different applications, such as automotive or laptop power adapters, LED lighting and power supply designs.
The VEP24US24 electrical features include rough reversed polarity protection, as well as over-power, over-temperature, and short-circuit protections. It offers superior temperature coefficient, transient response, and input & output filtering guarantee excellent load and line regulation.
Working Principle
The VEP24US24 is a synchronous buck converter based on the power switch control principle. It uses a full MOSFET control circuit to regulate the output voltage. During operation, the primary switcher takes the power from the input and delivers it to the output by transferring it to the secondary channel.The secondary switcher receives the power from the primary switcher and converts it to a controlled voltage to the output.
The primary and secondary switchers operate at twice the input frequency to achieve the most efficient operation. The switching frequency is determined by interrupting the primary switch in certain configurations and is programmed over the I2C interface. The IC also supports a phase-shift operation where the duty cycles of the two channels are varied in a linear fashion to reduce the output voltage ripple and conduct noise.
The VEP24US24 also features an external voltage sense pin which can be used to optimize the output accuracy, reduce the voltage ripple, and widen the load range of the device. The output voltage can also be adjusted by programming the control feedback voltage.
