The VFC110AP is a versatile, high performance voltage-to-frequency and frequency-to-voltage converter (V/F and F/V) belongs to the family of PMICs. It offers superior accuracy, stability and low noise operation with a single supply from 4V to 18V. The VFC110AP comprises of four integrated circuit sub-circuits. These integrated circuits comprise of a programmable sigma-delta modulator, a second order lowpass filter, a programmable current mirror, and a programmable voltage topology multiplier.
The VFC110AP voltage- to-frequency converter (V/F) uses this multi-operational topology to offer the highest stability and accuracy over time and temperature. Specifically, the lowpass filter which is used here is a 2nd order lowpass filter which has been designed to have high stability and low noise. The two-stage programmable current mirror on the other hand is a unique design that provides accuracies of up to +/-1% from temperature and +/-0.25% accuracy from voltage conditions.
The frequency-to-voltage conversion (F/V) on the other hand utilizes the delta modulator to accurately convert a frequency input signal into a voltage output signal. This modulator uses direct digital synthesis techniques, which are designed to calculate the integral of the input signal and generate the output voltage accordingly. In addition to this, the modulator also uses a sigma-delta modulator which is used to increase the signal-to-noise ratio of the output signal.
The VFC110AP is suitable for a wide range of applications such as AC/DC power management and control, signal conditioning and signal processing, industrial computers, automation and energy measurement. With its operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, is also suitable for automotive and military applications. The VFC110AP is also ideal for use in GPS systems, radio communications systems and radio frequency applications. In addition, the VFC110AP is able to operate from a single supply from 4V to 18V and can be used in both AC and DC powered systems.
