The VGO36-14IO7 module is a three-phase thyristor module, which belongs to a family of solid state thyristors known as silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs). An SCR is a four-layer, three-terminal semiconductor device that can be used to control power in a variety of applications. The VGO36-14IO7 module uses triple-isolated gate silicon controlled rectifiers (TISCRs) with high blocking voltage capability and ultra-low trigger angles. It is suitable for applications with low power ratings, such as battery chargers, switching power supplies, industrial heating and lighting control, and the control of small motors.
The VGO36-14IO7 module consists of two pieces of single-phase thyristors which are connected in parallel in order to increase the amount of load that can be handled by the SCR module. It features a main control terminal and a control gate. The controlling gate, or trigger gate, is responsible for initiating the switching process of the thyristors. The gate trigger on the VGO36-14IO7 is initiated when a small current is applied to the gate terminal. This current causes the gate voltage to exceed the rated gate threshold voltage and the thyristor is activated.
The three-terminal connection ports of the VGO36-14IO7 module are identified as the main control terminal (MCT), the main control terminal gate (MCTG), and the anode (A). The MCTG is the controlling terminal of the thyristor and is responsible for initiating the switch on process of the thyristor. The anode connection is the power input port, and the main control terminal is the control output port for the thyristor. The VGO36-14IO7 module contains two single-phase thyristors connected in parallel in order to handle the increased electrical load.
The working principle of the VGO36-14IO7 module is based on the behavior of three layers of doped silicon material which can conduct electricity in both directions. When a voltage greater than the rated gate voltage is applied between the main control terminal gate (MCTG) and the anode (A), a current flows through the MCTG, causing the thyristor to switch on. Once the thyristor is switched on, current can flow through it in both directions and the thyristor will stay on until the current through the MCTG is interrupted.
The main applications of the VGO36-14IO7 module include battery chargers, switching power supplies, industrial heating and lighting control, and the control of small motors. It is also suitable for use in inverters and UPS systems. The VGO36-14IO7 module is designed to provide reliable and stable performance in applications with low power ratings. The module has a high surge capability and a high blocking voltage rating for increased safety and reliability.
