Fixed inductors (also sometimes called non-variable inductors) have a wide variety of uses in various industries and applications. The VLS2012ET-1R0N-CA is one such example of a fixed inductor.

Application Field

VLS2012ET-1R0N-CA fixed inductors are mainly used for wire-to-wire and cable-to-cable connections in vehicles, such as those used in automotive audio systems. The inductance of its 2.2μH is helpful for suppressing electro-magnetic interference. Additionally, it serves to limit electric current flow in order to protect important components in the connection.

The inductor is used to ensure noise-reduced power from a 12-Volt power source. It can also be used for line noise suppression in various applications such as regulators, amplifiers, or signal lines. It has a relatively low DC resistance, allowing for better signal-to-noise ratio and improved signal clarity.In addition, VLS2012ET-1R0N-CA inductors are perfect for use in power supply channels where currents are apt to fluctuate.

Working Principle

VLS2012ET-1R0N-CA fixed inductors are designed to introduce a preferred inductance into a circuit. This is achieved using a soft magnetic core comprised of metal alloy, which in turn is wrapped with wire to create the inductive effect.

When the inductor is connected to a circuit, the current flowing through it creates a magnetic field around the metal core. This magnetic field is measured in terms of inductance. The higher the inductance of the inductor, the greater the magnetic field that can be formed; and vice versa. The response to the changing magnetic field, as the inductor becomes electrically charged, will depend on the rate at which the current through the coil changes. In other words, the movable electric fields will contribute to the changing current, resulting in a certain set of fields at a given frequency.

Another feature of the fixed inductor is its self-resonant frequency. This is the frequency at which the resistance of the inductor is equal to the inductance. At higher frequencies, the inductor will become more resistive, while at lower frequencies, the opposite will occur. The self-resonant frequency should never be exceeded or else permanent damage can occur to the inductor.
