The most important, working principle of a TVS device is that it works through a non-linear resistance. This means that when voltage reaches a certain point, also known as the clamping voltage, the TVS device basically creates a short-circuit until the voltage goes back down. When voltage is below the clamping voltage, the TVS device\'s resistance is high and voltage passes through it without a significant increase in current. </p><p>When voltage reaches the clamping voltage, the MOV\'s resistance changes from high input impedance to a lower output impedance, allowing a pathway from the high voltage to the low voltage side, effectively clamping the voltage at the clamping voltage. This is known as "active clamping". This clamping voltage is based on the breakdown voltage of the dielectric material of the MOV component. </p><p>The VM155MK801R020P050 also features a low leakage current, low dynamic resistance, fast response time and low capacitance for superior performance.
