Optoisolators are devices that use a light-emitting diode (LED) to optically isolate an electrical signal from one circuit, usually referred to as an input side, to another circuit, usually referred to as the output side. The VOD207T belongs to this family of optoisolator devices which feature a transistor, photovoltaic output.

The VOD207T is a 4-pin optocoupler which utilizes an LED (light emitting diode) as its input section and an NPN bipolar transistor as its output section. When a threshold voltage is reached, the output transistor is turned on which produces a collector current.

Its wide operational voltage range (3.15v to 10v) makes it a suitable device for applications whose input voltage may fluctuate.
