Floating level sensors have long been used in industrial and commercial applications to measure and monitor the level of liquid in a container or tank. They measure the actual level of liquid, not the pressure or movement of liquid, and offer an accurate, reliable method for determining tank levels. Variable Reference (VR) Two-Button (VR2B) Level Sensors are an advanced type of level sensor that offer enhanced accuracy and repeatability, and can be used in a wide range of industrial applications.
Working principle of VR2B level sensors is based on a floating pressure concept, in which a float is placed in a container filled with liquid. The float is connected to a pressure transmitter via a tether. By measuring the pressure exerted on the float as it moves up and down, the pressure transmitter produces an output signal that is proportional to the actual level of liquid in the container. The pressure signal is then compared with two reference points, or setpoints, to determine the level of liquid in the tank.
VR2B level sensors offer several advantages over traditional level sensors. First, they are more accurate, with an accuracy of up to 0.25 %. Second, they are more reliable, with good repeatability of up to 0.02 %. Third, they offer a wide range of setpoints and outputs, so they can be used in many different applications, from automotive to medical, and from oil and gas to water storage. Fourth, they have very low power consumption and require no calibration or programming, so they are easy to install and maintain.
VR2B level sensors can be used in a variety of industrial applications, including petroleum and chemical systems, water and wastewater treatment systems, boilers, cooling towers, food and beverage systems, and medical and pharmaceutical systems. These sensors are especially useful for applications with limited space, as they can be installed without the need for additional hardware. They can also be used in applications where accuracy and repeatability are critical, such as in controlling flow rates, ensuring proper tank levels, and measuring and monitoring product level.
Although VR2B level sensors are an excellent choice for many applications, they are also more expensive than traditional level sensors. As such, it is important to consider the cost and performance requirements of a particular application before choosing a level sensor. In most cases, it is best to select a sensor that strikes the best balance between cost and performance.
