Thyristors are a semiconductor device commonly used in power electronic applications. SCRs or Silicon Controlled Rectifiers, are a type of thyristor wherein the current flow is switched by a voltage applied between the cathode and the anode. The VS-111RKI80 SCR is a three-terminal device with two gate terminals and an anode terminal. The power dissipation of the device depends on its specific application but generally ranges from 50 to 400 W.

The application field of the VS-111RKI80 SCR is wide and varied, ranging from a broad number of consumer and industrial applications such as electric motor control, lighting control, motor speed control and motor start-up. The device will remain ‘on’ until the anode current reaches the holding current, at which point it will turn ‘off’. The device will also turn ‘off’ if the gate signal is removed.
