Working Principle
VS-1N3209 has a four-layer circuit structure composed of two bridges (anode to cathode), diodes and a capacitor. The capacitor absorbs the pulses inside the circuit and provides smooth, steady DC output. When the switches are activated, the high voltage from the anode provides the current from the source to the diode. When the switches deactivate, the diode will quickly become reverse-biased, forcing the current to flow through the capacitors. The capacitors then store the charge in order to provide steady DC output.
When an AC voltage is applied to the terminals, it is rectified to a unidirectional DC voltage by the passives of the circuit. The diode acts as a one-way passage for the current. All the reverse biased diodes remain off while the forward biased diodes remains on, allowing the current to flow through it. When the AC flow is reversed, the polarity of the voltage applied to the terminals of the bridge rectifier is also reversed, causing the current to flow through a different pair of diodes.
The main reason behind a traditional rectifier being beneficial is because it allows the rectified voltage to have an extremely smooth DC waveform, which is beneficial for many electronic applications. With better energy efficiency and more reliable operation, it is no surprise that VS-1N3209 bridge rectifier has become more popular as a preferred choice in creating DC power for consumer and industrial applications.
