Working principle

The device is a three-terminal, low-loss rectifier device. Its unique construction includes two sets of opposing arsenic-doped silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) diodes connected to the anode and cathode terminals in an opposite manner. This allows the rectifier to produce a reverse-resonant bi-directional rectifier with a low reverse recovery rate. The VS-20TQ045PBF operates in the 800kHz to 4.5MHz range, when switching from forward or reverse bias, and prevents harmonic distortion in audio output. When the device switches to the off-state, the diodes clamp the voltage and current to a safe level. This decreases the power loss in the device, allowing for higher efficiency and better power output.
