A Silicon Control Rectifier (SCR) is a type of electronic switch device that controls application of electrical current across a circuit, determining current flow and deliver soft starts. An SCR consists of four semiconductor layers, commonly composed of silicon, and has three leads attached to it. It is a dependable switch that turns circuits on and off when there is a sufficient voltage applied to its two gate leads. SCRs are a type of Thyristors, which are four layer semiconductor devices designed for the purpose of controlling electrical current flow for either on or off implementations.

The VS-22RIA10 is a fast switching thyristor-type SCR with a peak on-state voltage rating of 600 Volts and an RMS current rating of 10 Amps. This SCR is able to control and regulate current in a circuit. The SCR is encapsulated in a TO-220AB package with a strain relief option integrated into the device.
