VS-APU3006-F3 is a diode rectifier, consisting of a single chip, designed for operation within small to medium power applications. This device utilizes a new generation, ultra-low forward voltage, low temperature coefficient and low-power rectifier technology which provides highly reliable performance and improved durability under a wide range of electrical and environmental conditions.Basic Working Principle
When the diode is forward biased, free electrons in the conduction band of the n-side of the diode move towards the p-type material of the p-side. Meanwhile the holes in the p-side of the diode move toward the n-side of the diodes. This drift current produces an electric field within the device which drives the flowing electrons from the n-side to the p-side of the device, producing an electric current in the circuit. In reverse bias, no current flows because the holes and electrons are pulled away from each other creating an "electric field barrier". Thus, no flow of current can occur between the terminals of the diode.Materials and Structure
