This current can only be controlled by the on/off control, which is typically done by the gate input.When a positive voltage is applied to the gate terminal it will open the device and allow current to flow from the anode to the cathode. This type of operation is called a forward blocking or cut-off mode and is used in AC-DC rectification, speed control and light dimming control applications.
