VS-ST303C12CFK0L thyristors are designed for high current, single-phase and 3-phase applications and offer superior performance in fast switching applications, such as DC-DC conversion. These thyristors are designed with a vertical structure and are ideal for controlling high power and high frequency applications. The structure of the thyristor is composed of a vertical emitter-base junction and an integrated gate, which can be used as a trigger to initiate conduction in the device.This device can also be used for arbitrary inductive loads such as resistors, capacitors and inductors.

Working Principle
The VS-ST303C12CFK0L thyristor operates using the negative resistance effect. This effect occurs when the anode current increases and the anode voltage falls below the gate voltage, driving the thyristor into conduction. This conduction causes the anode voltage to be less than the gate voltage until the current drops to a low value. At this point, the circuit is again in the blocking mode. This effect can be controlled by adjusting the gate voltage to be positive or negative with respect to the anode voltage.
The VSST303C12CFK0L thyristors are designed to provide glitch-free, steady state switching and current sharing with minimum losses. This device is designed to protect the circuit in the case of overloads or other faults. It has a built-in protection circuit that prevents the thyristors from overvoltage and overcurrent conditions by sensing the situation and activating suitable protection measures.
In each switching cycle, the VS-ST303C12CFK0L thyristor can handle a maximum current up to 1200A and a maximum voltage of 600 V DC.
