VSC8572XKS-05 is an advanced chip with multiple solutions available on the market. It is designed as an all-in-one optical interface, and it provides a cost-effective solution for connecting up to four coax signals with up to twelve 10/100 Ethernet ports. This chip is ideal for high-speed telecom applications such as over the top (OTT) networks and IPTV.
The VSC8572XKS-05 is based on a time division multiplexing (TDM) design and a triple speed Ethernet physical layer device. It integrates several key devices, including a digital phase locked loop (DPLL) for phase synchronization, a low jitter crystal oscillator, a four layer switching device, and a programmable clock controller.
The integrated DPLL locks the PPM signal from the network, and synchronizes those PPM signals with the local clock, which eliminates the need for additional external PLL devices. The low jitter crystal oscillator ensures that the clock used to drive the logic operations of the VSC8572XKS-05 stays accurate.
The four layer switching device on the VSC8572XKS-05 offers up to 4x1012Mbps bandwidth, and allows data to be transferred between the four coax interfaces and the 12 10/100 Ethernet ports at the same time, allowing running 10/100 Mbps performance on the IPTV network.
The programmable clock controller also allows for different clock rates between the Ethernet ports and the coax interfaces. This allows for additional flexibility when integrating systems or devices that have different clock rates, as the VSC8572XKS-05 can be programmed to adjust its clock rate for the different devices.
