This device designed with the Windbond’s new VCI protocol, the instruction set and protocol command are condense together, thus greatly reduce the instruction set window. The W25X20CLSVIG device operates at 3V 0V and 1.8V. Its power consumption is low, which provides superior ESD/Latch-up protection, etc. It is well-suited for planar and array of production. For W25X20CLSVIG Series, the protocol command is made up of instruction and address. So, compared to conventional serial EEPROM, the series needs both advantages of SPI (3-line serial control) and I2C (Two-line serial control).</p> <h2> Application Field of W25X20CLSVIG </h2><p> W25X20CLSVIG series are widely applied in various industries, mainly as follows:</p><ul> <li>Mass storage: USB Boot Flash Drive/PCMCIA/Smart Card/ Memory Card and so on</li> <li>Vehicle Control: Such as, Control System, Anti-theft</li> <li>Communication: GSM/CDMA/Bluetooth/Wireless</li> <li>Electronic Security: Immobilizer Transponder</li> <li>Consumer Electronics: Home Network/POS/Home Appliances</li> </ul><h2>Working Principle of W25X20CLSVIG</h2> <p> W25X20CLSVIG series consists of several different EEPROMs, which have similar structure but different thickness and number of memory cells. The cards have a structure consisting of one or more "chip packet", and each chip packet consists of multiple memory cells. Each memory cell can store the data for a certain period of time. In order to accomplish read and write operations, the W25X20CLSVIG chip can use a few basic commands, such as write enable, write disable, read enable, read disable, and erase enable. By intelligently combining these commands, other more complicated operations can be achieved.</p><p> To enable a specific read operation, the W25X20CLSVIG chip first receives a read enable signal. The signal indicates the location at which the read operation is to be performed. The W25X20CLSVIG chip then supplies an appropriate voltage to select the requested memory cell or cells. Depending on the read operation, the chip can supply either high or low voltage to the selected memory cell. After the necessary voltage is supplied, the W25X20CLSVIG chip supplies a read signal. The signal is sent to the memory cell and the data stored in the memory cell is transmitted back to the chip. During this process, the data stored in the memory cell is either erased or changed.</p> <p>For a write operation, similar to the read operation, a write enable signal is first supplied to the W25X20CLSVIG chip. However, instead of providing a voltage to select the memory cell, the W25X20CLSVIG chip supplies a write signal. This signal is then sent to the memory cell and the data to be written is transmitted to the chip. The data is then written into the requested memory cell.</p> <p>In conclusion, EEEPROMs W25X20CLSVIG series make use of the advanced VCI protocol that can both reduce the instruction set window and maximize the EEPROMs’ performance.
