The W25X80VZPIG T&R is designed as a low-density serial flash memory, as such it is used for storing code and data in microcontroller applications, such as bootloaders, code libraries, FPGAs, and MCUs. The Single-I/O mode allows for a single-ended operation of the chip, meaning that only one input and one output pin are used for data transactions. The Dual-I/O mode facilitates bidirectional communication with two pins for data transfer. The Quad-I/O mode allows for four pins to be used in data transfer, allowing for even higher speed performance.

The W25X80VZPIG T&R features a high-speed write cycle system, which is designed to extend the life of the device by reducing the number of erase cycles linked to writing. The cycle is calibrated to ensure long-term performance stability and manage the implementation of write and erase commands. Automated erase and write operations are also available and can be used to update data with minimal overhead in terms of time and power consumption.

The W25X80VZPIG T&R also features three separate system protection measures, referred to as screen grab, block erase, and block erase with confirmation. The screen grab mode allows the user to read from a sector of the chip without the need for a full erase cycle. Block erase allows for multiple sectors to be erased in one operation, whereas the block erase with confirmation mode provides an additional layer of security by verifying the sector erase operation.
