The W83782G is a multifunctional System Management IC for portable computers. It provides a complete thermal management solution for laptop applications. The chip integrates a primary voltage regulator, 3-phase thermal management and power sequencing. The 3-phase system is designed to provide optimum thermal performance at lower power consumption. The power sequencing system enables efficient control of the CPU, memory, I/O and secondary power supplies. The power sequencing system is designed to provide improved fuel efficiency, increased battery run-time and improved thermal performance.
The W83782G features a configurable protection circuit which can detect and reduce over-temperature. The over-temperature protection features include thermal trip, short-circuit and over-load protection.
