Wireless MBus (Wireless Meter-Bus) is a European open standard for remote reading and control of electricity, gas and water meters from a central network. It is a short-range RF communication protocol function optimized for low power and low cost networks, making it an ideal choice for smart meters and Smart Grid applications. Wireless MBus, also known as WM-Bus or WMbus, has been specifically designed to enable efficient operation of meters within a wireless metering network.
The Wireless MBus evaluation and development kit is designed for engineers who are looking to evaluate or develop Wireless MBus application solutions. The Wireless MBus evaluation and development boards are based on Atmel’s ATmega128L and the Atmel mXM1101 low-power transceiver. These modules enable engineers to quickly develop Wireless MBus compliant applications.
The Wireless MBus evaluation and development kit contains two individual boards, a transmitter which contains the transceiver module (mXM1101) and microcontroller (ATmega128L), and a receiver board containing only the microcontroller (ATmega128L). The microcontrollers on the transmitter and receiver boards are pre-programmed with the Wireless MBus protocols and application firmware providing engineers with a complete solution for Wireless MBus testing and development.
The evaluation board can be used to test Wireless MBus networks and our development board is designed to provide a flexible platform for engineers to create their own applications and to create custom Wireless MBus nodes for any application. Wireless MBus development board also allows flexible expansion of the transceiver board to create a multi device PAN.
The Wireless MBus protocol provides two main modes of operation, the “multilateration” and “unicast” modes of operation. In the multilateration mode, all of the nodes in the network are required to receive the data from the base station and respond with a packet containing their own data. In the unicast mode, only the node that is to receive the data needs to respond to the base station. The Wireless MBus protocol also provides a means for the nodes to establish connections with each other, as well as enabling nodes to discover the network and learn which nodes are currently active.
Our Wireless MBus evaluation and development boards are designed to make it easy for engineers to evaluate and develop Wireless MBus solutions. The evaluation board enables engineers to quickly test and evaluate Wireless MBus network functionality, while the development board provides a platform on which to develop and customize applications for Wireless MBus networks.
The Wireless MBus evaluation and development boards offer a variety of features, such as flexibility for different protocols, excellent performance in low-power applications, dynamic power management, advanced error-control features, scalability for multi-node networks, and long-term reliability and stability. Our evaluation and development boards are also designed to be easy to use and provide engineers with an intuitive user interface with programmable options.
In conclusion, the Wireless MBus evaluation and development boards are designed for engineers who are looking to evaluate and develop Wireless MBus solutions. The evaluation board provides a quick and easy way to test out Wireless MBus network functionality, while the development board provides a platform to customize and create applications for Wireless MBus networks. The Wireless MBus evaluation and development boards offer features such as excellent performance, advanced error-control, and scalability for multi-node networks, as well as long-term reliability and stability.
