The WMF6P33K has three key features: high energy density, high frequency and high temperature, which are essential for power applications. Its self-healing characteristic provides both high reliability and a long lifetime. The series also provides excellent inrush suppression and EMI filtering.
The working principle of the WMF6P33K is based on the traditional capacitor mechanism. The component has a “dielectric” composed of two metal plates (or “electrodes”) separated by a dielectric material, which is a polypropylene film in this case. These plates act as a capacitor by accumulating electric charge on either side. As current flows through the component, electric charge is accumulated on the outer surfaces of the film, when the current stops, the accumulated charge remains the component.

This is known as its capacitance-frequency curve, and the capacitance value is at its lowest at frequencies below the self-resonance frequency or SRF (the frequency at which the capacitance is at its maximum). Above the SRF, the capacitance value is at its maximum.
The capacitance value decreases with temperature, and this is known as the capacitor\'s temperature-insensitivity characteristics. The component features a fairly linear temperature-insensitivity curve, allowing the capacitor to remain stable even in environments where temperatures fluctuate.
In addition, the WMF6P33K series is also designed for AC applications. Its high ripple-handling capabilities make it a suitable component for AC applications.
