Working Principle

The WT205A series of DC-DC converters are based on a two-stage buck-boost circuit topology. This topology combines the advantages of the buck (step-down) and the boost (step-up) regulator to ensure accurate power transfer.

In the first stage of operation, an integrated buck regulator is used to draw a constant current from the input voltage source. This current is fed to an inductor, which stores energy in its magnetic field. This energy is then discharged through a switching switch (controlled by an internal control circuit) to the output voltage of the converter. By adjusting the duty cycle (duty cycle) of the switching switch, the output voltage can be adjusted from 0.5V to 5V, depending on the MTBF of the device.

In the second stage of operation, an integrated boost regulator is used to draw energy from the output voltage of the converter and store it in a capacitor. This energy is then released through a switching switch (again controlled by an internal control circuit) to the output voltage of the converter. By adjusting the duty cycle of the switching switch, the output voltage can be adjusted from 5V to 10V.

Ultimately, this two-stage operation allows the converter to maintain a high efficiency and provide accurate and reliable power transfer even in the face of varying input voltages. The WT205A series of converters also feature overload and short-circuit protection to ensure reliable and safe operation in a variety of applications.
