XC2C256-7CP132C application field and working principle
Embedded - CPLDs (Complex Programmable Logic Devices) are a type of programmable logic devices. They have a wide range of application fields, such as industry signal processing, motor control and system program verification, etc. XC2C256-7CP132C is one of the CPLDs, it is the improved device of XC2C256 and the first member of the Cool Runner-II device family.
XC2C256-7CP132C has 256 macrocells, including 191 programmed logic elements (or 4-input look-up tables), with up to 32768 bits of Programmable Clock tree. Its installed power is lower than that of its predecessor XC2C256, a reduction of up to 30% due to improved low power design techniques adopted in CoolRunner-II series. This device mainly designed for consumer, automotive, industrial and communications markets.
The Cool Runner-II CPLD enables customers to store more logic in single device, improving system performance and reducing the cost simultaneously. It is applicable to very low power applications and its stand-by current is less than 500 μA. Even when the total system power mode is stopped, the CPLD operates on shut-down power mode, and its stand-by current is only 1 μA.
Working Principle
XC2C256-7CP132C Working Principle mostly based on logic gates. The logic gates are devices with two or more inputs and a single output. The output of a logic gate is said to be true, high, or binary "1" when the inputs comply with a specific rule of the logic gate type. XC2C256-7CP132C contains some logic gates like ∧, OR, XOR, NOT and so on. These logic gates are connected in series and parallel to create a specific logic circuit. And these logic circuits may be used as combinational and sequential circuits.
It operates according to a set of programmed instructions to implement the specific function. A programming sequence is written into a control register. Based on these control bits, the data can be identified on the data inputs and their manipulated to generate outputs, based on the programmed logic. The output will be generated based on the programmed logic in the CPLD.
Additionally, the cooling technology of XC2C256-7CP132C ensures device and product work efficiently and steadily. The signal output for CPLD is delayed for few nanoseconds which is important for system execution time. All these make XC2C256-7CP132C have unique advantages and is perfect for timer and lighting control, controlling a motor speed and power monitoring in various applications.
