The RF Directional Coupler, XC3500P-20S is a special type of coupler which permits the power of received RF signals to be measured with a high degree of accuracy. This Power Measuring Directional Coupler is particularly suitable for measuring and monitoring high powered systems. The XC3500P-20S works based on the principle of building an isolated bridge to separate the power in a coupled path from an isolated path.
The bridge contains four hybrid couplers which are tuned to have a 50 dB coupling factor across the 2-30 GHz frequency range of the XC3500P-20S. The coupled arm of the bridge contains resistive loads which converts the incident energy into an electrical signal by applying Ohm’s law. Also, a low-pass filter is added to eliminate the measurements at higher frequencies in the spectrum. The XC3500P-20S is designed to provide 20 dB of rejection at forward and reverse power levels, which is ideal for high power applications such as microwave communication systems.
The XC3500P-20S is a compact, broadband directional coupler for monitoring RF signals in high fired systems. The XC3500P-20S allows for accurate power measurements of forward and reverse power levels which makes the coupler suitable for power balancing, monitoring and comparison of RF signals.
