PMIC - Supervisors
XC6121C526MR-G is a supervisor power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed for next-generation computer systems. It is designed to provide superior electrical performance, power saving, and low-power management for improved efficiency and power management for current and future compute systems. The XC6121C526MR-G is designed to support connective power management for processors, PCI Express and other system buses, and a variety of other components in the system. This device is capable of providing improved power efficiency and robust power management for a range of applications and operating conditions.
The XC6121C526MR-G includes a number of features and components which provide robust power management and efficient power management. The integrated low-dropout regulator (LDO) provides stable power with lower noise than before, and the integrated level shifter optimizes system performance by providing efficient signal transfer with minimal power leakage. In addition, the XC6121C526MR-G includes multiple output switch-mode power management (SMPS) controllers, which provide high-efficiency voltage conversion and power saving. The XC6121C526MR-G also includes features like an over current protection circuit for enhanced safety, as well as a programmable, adjustable peak current setting for improved control over power management.
The XC6121C526MR-G works via a combination of power management and signal processing. In addition to the integrated LDOs and signal level shifters, the supervisor provides a type of power management called Activity-Based Power Management (ABPM) to help manage the power delivered to each component in the system. The ABPM works by monitoring the amount of activity and power consumed by each component and adjusts the power supply to each component in order to keep them at their optimal performance levels. By doing this, the supervisor can also ensure that the system operates within its required power budget, while reducing overall power consumption. Additionally, the supervisor also includes thermal protection circuitry to protect the system from overheating caused by power overload.
