Working Principle

XC2186B203CR-G adopts the DC-DC conversion working principle. It comprises an inductor, transformer, diode, and MOSFET switch, which are connected in a switching mode circuit. When this circuit is enabled, the MOSFET switch is turned on, allowing power to pass through the MOSFET switch, transformer and inductor. The circuit then begins to resonate, via a process called "resonant switching".

The resonant switching process begins with a voltage being applied to the transformer, which then increases the input voltage. The increased input voltage then supplies current to the inductor, causing the inductor to magnetize. This increases the amount of current passing through the transformer, and thus increases the output voltage.

The inductor then changes its state from magnetized to demagnetized, and the stored energy is released. This reduces the output voltage. This process is repeated multiple times at a speed of up to 16MHz. When the output voltage reaches the required level, the oscillation stops and the MOSFET is switched off. Due to the combination of the transformer, inductor and the MOSFET, the circuit achieves a high efficiency rate of up to 98%.
