XCEL220B123FR-G Working Principle
The XCEL220B123FR-G DC/DC converters are designed to convert a high input voltage range into a low output voltage. The voltage conversion is based on a buck-regulating switch inductor circuit. The high input voltage is stepped down to the required low voltage and the difference between the two is used to supply energy to the output. The output voltage is the voltage across the inductor and the high input voltage is the voltage across the switch, which allows it to control the output voltage.
The switch is able to adjust the output voltage by controlling the switch duty cycle, or the proportion of time that the switch is on. The inductor then stores the energy when the switch is on and releases it to the output when it is off. This periodic charging and discharging of the inductor enables it to regulate the output voltage. Apart from the voltage regulation, the XCEL220B123FR-G also provides over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection against excessive input and output voltage, excessive current or power loss caused by excessive temperature.
The XCEL220B123FR-G also includes a built-in soft start and adjustable soft-stop for a smooth power-up and power-down sequence with independent control, adjustable short-circuit protection and current monitoring for extra safety. It also provides very low ground bounce and high input-to-output isolation (up to 4.5kVdc) for high EMI performance.
