XCEL220B123FR-G Working Principle

The XCEL220B123FR-G DC/DC converters are designed to convert a high input voltage range into a low output voltage. The voltage conversion is based on a buck-regulating switch inductor circuit. The high input voltage is stepped down to the required low voltage and the difference between the two is used to supply energy to the output. The output voltage is the voltage across the inductor and the high input voltage is the voltage across the switch, which allows it to control the output voltage.

The switch is able to adjust the output voltage by controlling the switch duty cycle, or the proportion of time that the switch is on. The inductor then stores the energy when the switch is on and releases it to the output when it is off.
