XDUY06A is a CMOS tens digit display module with a large format n-digit 7-segment LED display. The module is available in either red, green, blue or yellow color with 3D segment height and an emission angle of 140 degrees. Upon application of the drive voltage, one digit display is enabled. All the seven LEDs composing that digit are turned ON and the remaining digits remain blank. It also has wide viewing angle, high brightness and long service life. As a display module, it comes in two models, LED character and numeric.

In LED characteristics, its characters are composed of seven LED segments. LED characters are commonly used for displaying numbers, letters and signs which are used for displaying live or scrolling messages on digital signs, scoreboards, public announcement and in the entertainment industry. The average brightness of XDUY06A LED for the red and green display is 3,000 mcd and for the blue and yellow displays is 1,000 mcd.

For LED numeric, the XDUY06A display provides up to 10 voltage drivers. Each driver powers 7 LED segment. By applying different voltage drive levels to the cathodes, it produces the desired numbers. The LED numeric displays power consumption is lower than LED characters and they are used mostly in limited space applications such as electric meters, medical imaging systems, and scientific instruments.

The XDUY06A works on the principle of voltage control of light emitter. When a voltage is applied to the anode of the cathode, carriers move towards the negative electrode, where they recombine and generate light. In this module, a separate voltage drive is required for each digit. For each digit, seven cathode connections must be made corresponding to each of the seven segments that make up the digit. The correct pattern of these connections allows the desired digit to be displayed.

XDUY06A displays are designed for wide range of voltage applications from 4.5V to 20.0V making them ideal for a variety of applications ranging from mobile devices, calculators, automotive displays, industrial instrumentation to LCD backlighting and smart cards.
