YNS05S16-D is mainly used in laptop computers, mobile phones, digital cameras, handheld devices and medical equipment. YNS05S16-D uses a full-bridge PWM control solution to convert a single 12~24V DC input into a 5V DC output voltage. The full-bridge topology allows for a high efficiency of up to 95%. It also features a wide-range input voltage (12~24V), low no-load power consumption, and high efficient operation. The converter features a control circuitry that allows for a wide range of input and output voltages as well as current control. The converter utilizes two PWM outputs from a dedicated PWM controller to drive two power MOSFETs which form the full-bridge. The output voltage of the converter is regulated through feedback from an onboard shunt voltage regulator feedback circuit. The shunt voltage regulator feedback circuit provides precise regulation of the output voltage as well as current limit and thermal protection for both the output and input terminals of the converter. In addition, the converter features a soft start feature which limits the inrush current at the start-up of the converter. The YNS05S16-D also provides high power factor operation and EMI compliance. The converter achieves high power factor operation by employing a proprietary control algorithm and also providing a high-frequency operating clock frequency. This allows for accurate switching of the power MOSFETs in the converter resulting in low switching losses.
