They are designed to take the initial current surges associated with motor and transformer start-up current conditions as well as serve as a spare for short circuit protection in any DC load circuit. YPAL0.80T PTC Resettable Fuses work by using a particular current-sensing element, known as the reset thickness. It consists of a durometer blend polymer from which the fuse takes its name, as well as a selection of micro-closed particles. It is set at a certain point to prevent overcurrents from flowing. As the load current continues to flow, the temperature of the device increases. When the temperature reaches a certain point, a permanent open-circuit is created. This causes the fuse element to shift, creating an open circuit and disabling the flow of current.
