Common Mode Chokes (CMCs) are widely used in a variety of applications. In particular, they are used in the Z28 application field, which is used to reduce or eliminate conducted common mode noise in power, data, and signal lines. The noise generated in these application areas can be caused by the switching of power supplies, ground loops, and interference from other electrical equipment. To provide effective reduction of noise, CMCs can be used to form a "common-mode" circuit, which is a type of filter that prevents high frequency noise from entering and leaving the circuit.

A CMC consists of a core or bobbin with windings of insulated copper wire and a magnetic shielding material, such as ferrite. The back EMF acts as a magnetic shield, preventing high frequency energy from radiating out from the filter\'s center.

The CMC can also be used to provide additional power line noise filtering. By adding additional windings to the core, the CMC can be designed to act as a high-pass filter, allowing only high-frequency noise to pass through to the power lines. This can provide additional protection from power line noise, reducing the amount of interference that can be picked up by sensitive electronics or audio equipment.

CMCs are one of the most widely used types of filters and are an essential part of any noise reduction circuits. Due to their simple design and wide range of applications, the CMC is a popular choice for a variety of applications.
