The Z84C0020PEC microprocessor from Zilog is an 8-bit device with CMOS technology and an embedded prototype of the 80C20 and 80C21 central processing units (CPUs). Designed primarily to meet the needs of embedded applications, the processor offers the majority of features found in the preceding 80C20 and 80C21 models. The Z84C0020PEC demonstrates low power and a small package size that make it suitable to fit into a large variety of application needs.
The Z84C0020PEC has an operating voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V, a clock frequency of 2.5MHz, a 20-bit address bus, and is capable of addressing up to a 2 Mbyte memory space. Its internal architecture is designed for 20 different microcode opcodes and contains 16 words of RAM on chip. It also has two 16-bit timers with prescalers and interrupt logic.

The processor also contains specialized memory registers to store data. These registers include general-purpose register, program counter, stack pointer, and Index register. All of these registers are used in the processor\'s operations and can be read and written to by the CPU.
