The ZL2102DEMO1Z is a versatile evaluation board that is designed for applications in the field of DC/DC & AC/DC (off-line) SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply). This evaluation board provides design engineers with an easy-to-use platform to evaluate the performance of ZL2102 DEMO1Z technology in their designs. The board is suitable for applications such as motor control, automotive, lighting, and low-power AC/DC and DC/DC switching power supplies.

The ZL2102DEMO1Z board features a ZL2102DEMO1Z device, which is a current mode (PWM) switching converter controller specifically designed for use in off-line Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). With a maximum operating frequency of 500Khz, the ZL2102DEMO1Z is capable of providing excellent performance in a wide range of power conversion applications. The high current limiting/dynamic Foldback feature ensures protection against over-currents and provides excellent temperature performance.

The ZL2102DEMO1Z is the ideal choice for charge pumps, LED lighting, point of load converters, motor control, and other applications requiring step-up or step-down power conversion. The board is also handy for experimenting with external frequency modulation, soft-start, and other control loops.

At the heart of the ZL2102DEMO1Z evaluation board is a two-stage, current-mode (PFM) control system. The first stage of the control system uses a changing duty cycle to regulate the output voltage, while the second stage uses a changing frequency to regulate the output voltage in order to achieve more accurate regulation. Together, the two stages provide a fast, effective control system that can produce precise load regulation, excellent current regulation, and high power efficiency.

The ZL2102DEMO1Z is equipped with a number of features to facilitate and simplify the evaluation and design process. The device offers an integrated over-current protection (OCP) system, allowing for quick diagnosis and correction of peaks and spikes in the current. The board also features protection against over-voltage and under-voltage conditions, as well as adjustable Peak Current Limit and Power Limit. The adjustable Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) frequency can be set to optimize the output waveform for given requirements.

The ZL2102DEMO1Z board also contains an onboard EMI filter, allowing it to meet the strict EN55022 (radio frequency noise) standard. Additionally, the board provides two levels of under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protection, allowing the board to automatically shut down when the input voltage falls below a user-specified threshold. The ZL2102DEMO1Z also includes a temperature monitor, allowing the board to be used in safety critical systems requiring advanced fault protection.
