The ZL30621LFF7 is an advanced quartz crystal-controlled clock generator and oscillator IC that finds application in various time-critical systems such as communications, interference immunity and precision metrology. With a helpful suite of features, including both variable and fixed frequency operation as well as programmable divider, it increases system readiness, accuracy and flexibility while reducing design time and cost.
The ZL30621LFF7 integrates an oscillator, selection logic, frequency multiplier, divide-by-N counter, 10-to-1-frequency multiplier and frequency-control digitally controlled oscillator (DCO). As an oscillator, it provides an ultra-low-power, quartz-controlled clock source in a wide range of frequencies, including frequencies that are not adjustable or programmable. It also allows for low-power design with its optional static FB, tuneable frequency range, standby modes and wide range DC supply, making it extremely flexible for a wide range of applications.
The selection logic block on the device allows for flexibility in application specification, allowing for operating frequencies to be set in fixed-frequency or adjustable modes. The frequency programming is accomplished through digital commands ranging from 4 kHz to 1.2 GHz. At the same time, the device has an excellent jitter performance, providing up to -110 dB of ultra-low integrated jitter on the generated clock. The device also employs differential outputs with a programmable frequency divider to adjust the clock frequency in 100 increments between 0.1 MHz and 2 GHz.
The ZL30621LFF7 also provides pre-programmed features through its powerful divider which can be used to program frequency dividers in 1/2/4/8/16/32/64/128/256 modes. Additionally, the DCO block on the device automatically tunes the oscillator to provide a desired frequency using the programmed clock period. With the on-chip multiplexer, the clock period can be set up to 500MHz with a resolution of 1MHz.
The device also includes an on-chip digital PLL, allowing for frequencies up to 500MHz with a resolution of 1MHz. The PLL can be used to produce various frequencies through the external reference input, making it suitable for clock-correction applications or systems that require a stable clock. The device also features an external temperature compensation, allowing it to optimize the clock frequency depending on the operating temperature of the circuit.
The on-chip linear regulator allows a wide range of supply voltages, ranging from 1.8V to 3.3V. It also includes a short start-up time and low power consumption making it ideal for ultra-low-power applications. The device also includes integrated monitoring and safety features, such as the Electronic Short-Circuit Protection, which monitors the output voltage to prevent damage.
