ZL50075GAG2 Application Field and Working PrincipleZL50075GAG2 is an analog front end IC for optical communication systems. It combines a transimpedance amplifier, limiting amplifier and CDR circuits into one package, allowing consistent performance across a variety of bandwidths. It is used to improve the link budget of optical communication systems to enable longer transmission distances.In optical transmission systems, the main focus is on obtaining the most accurate carrier-to-noise ratio value. Improving the link budget involves increasing the signal-to-noise ratio, which is achieved through the use of a transimpedance amplifier. The transimpedance amplifier processes the optical signal, converting it into an electrical signal. This electrical signal is then processed by the limiting amplifier, which adds additional gain and filtering to reduce any noise present in the signal. Finally, the signal is sent to the CDR circuit which relies on clock regeneration to output a data stream.The ZL50075GAG2 is designed to be used in networks that range from single-channel up to 10 gigabit link speeds. It is able to detect signals from both single-mode and multi-mode fibers. It also contains features to reduce power consumption, with a quiescent current of only 2mA and dynamic power consumption of 160mW per channel. Additionally, the chip offers a variety of interfaces such as differential LVDS, LVPECL and PECL.In order to achieve its impressive performance, the ZL50075GAG2 features an ultra-low linear transimpedance input stage. This allows it to accurately detect low light optical signals in order to maximize the link budget.
