Working Principle of ZMOTIONL100ZCOG

The entire concept of ZMOTIONL100ZCOG is based on optical grating technology which is a miniature interferometer design with a stabilized output, a common application of this technology is displacement measurement.To detect any relative motion, a far mirror is used to reflect back the laser light and a position grating is placed in between. This grating is positioned in a way that it is always facing the light source and the far mirror. Due to this, the reflected light travels through it thus ensuring a uniform phase shift.To measure the relative movement, the light at the detector is then measured for the phase shift due to relative motion. This phase shift is monitored and is used to evaluate not just the displacement but also the velocity as well as the acceleration.Thus for ZMOTIONL100ZCOG, a laser diode along with a position grating is utilized and there is an InGaAs detector which count the number of grating fringes and monitors its movement. This is done by measuring the variation in total reflection intensity which is proportional to the movement of grating. Afterwards, the output is normalized and then amplified to provide an analog voltage output in response to shifts in the position.The output is a voltage signal, proportional to the position of the grating i.e. the relative displacement. This output can be connected directly to any analog interface, such as a computer, to give a measurement of the relative displacement. Thus the ZMOTIONL100ZCOG offers an accurate, non-contact solution for measuring relative position over a wide temperature range.
