Working Principle
ZR40402R50 is a monolithic current-driven device that uses an external shunt resistor to proportionally turn on and off an output device. This in turn controls the output voltage. As the input voltage drops, the output voltage follows in order to maintain the desired level.The device uses current-driven outputs, whereby higher current allows increasing the output voltage up to 14 volts.
The device has two operating modes, a high power mode and a low power mode. In the high power mode, it is capable of delivering more than 1A of current and switches faster to maximize efficiency and minimize harmonic distortion. In the low power mode, it is ideal for applications where noise without extra power consumption needs to be minimized.
The device utilizes an advanced current-drive feedback system, which helps achieve precise adjustment of the output voltage when an external resistors change the current levels. It has a temperature coefficient of negligible 0.17%/‰C and voltage tolerance up to 0.25%. Its impedance is comparably low, at only 0.15 Ohms. The addition of internal over-current protection allows safe and reliable monitoring of the devices output current.
