The ZR431GTA is an integrated, low- dropout (LDO) voltage reference or voltage regulator module that provides the highest level of accuracy, temperature stability, and performance available. It is designed to be used in applications such as pre-regulator circuits, feedback loops, overvoltage protection circuits, voltage-to-frequency/frequency-to-voltage converters, power source voltage scaling, and surge protection.
The main features of the ZR431GTA are its high-accuracy output voltage, quick response time, and low-noise operation. This voltage regulator can accurately regulate output voltage from 0.001 V to 5 V, with a temperature coefficient of +0.02 %/°C. The response time is 30us, while the peak output noise varies from 20 µV to 40 µV depending on the output voltage.
The working principle of the ZR431GTA is based on an internally compensated Error Amplifier. This Error Amplifier is connected between an output voltage feedback pin and an error output voltage pin. The output voltage feedback pin is connected to the output voltage node and the error output voltage pin is connected to a +2.5V reference voltage. The Error Amplifier compares the output voltage to the reference voltage, and controls the output voltage so that it follows the reference voltage. This is how the ZR431GTA maintains an accurate and stable output voltage.
In addition, the ZR431GTA also includes several safety features to protect the device and circuit against over-voltage and short-circuit protection. The over-voltage protection (OVP) feature senses output voltages greater than the rated maximum and shuts off the output of the voltage reference module. The short-circuit protection (SCP) feature protects the voltage regulator module from short-circuit faults by limiting the current output to a safe value.
