The ZWS 100BAF-5/R (hereinafter referred to as the “ZWS100”) is a modular AC DC Converter designed to convert a 24 VDC input into a three-phase 400 VAC output. The unit is available in a variety of sizes ranging from 1.5kW to 10kW and can be used in a wide variety of applications.The ZWS100 can convert either a single-phase or three-phase input into a single-phase or three-phase output. For the single-phase input, the ZWS100 accepts a two-wire and a ground connection and is suitable for use with both AC and DC sources. For the three-phase input, the ZWS100 requires a four-wire connection and is suitable for use only with AC sources. At the core of the ZWS100 is a switching frequency PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) algorithm that is designed to reduce the size and weight of the device while still offering high efficiency, robustness, and a quality output waveform. This switching algorithm allows the ZWS100 to rapidly cyclically switch a series of high-current power transistors between the input and output in order to regulate the output voltage and current. As the switching frequency and the voltage and current levels of the output are modulated, the efficiency of the device increases and the power dissipation decreases, resulting in cooling requirements that are significantly lower than alternative solutions.In order to ensure the safe operation of the ZWS100, it integrates several features to protect both the device itself and the circuits that it services. These features include input protection, output overvoltage and over current protection, as well as electronic thermal protection. These features are designed to ensure the safe operation of the ZWS100 even under the most extreme conditions, such as short-circuit or over-temperature events.
