The AD9642-250EBZ Evaluation Board is part of a family of Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs). The board allows the user to evaluate and debug the high performance, 14-bit, 500-MS/s (mega samples per second) AD9642 A/D converter. The ultra low-noise, 14-bit, 500 MS/S (mega samples per second) 50-MS/s (max.) throughput rate ADC is available with extended temperature range and enhanced ESD protection.
This Evaluation Board is designed to provide users with a low cost, easy to use, and versatile platform for evaluating the performance of the AD9642 A/D converter. This board helps the user to evaluate the AD9642’s dynamic performance, precision, accuracy, power consumption, noise performance, and other features. The Evaluation Board includes an on-board power supply, an OLED display, an active filter, and an Analog Input Reference Buffer that are powered by the AD9642.
The AD9642-250EBZ Evaluation Board supports single-ended and differential input analog signals for conversions from 0-2.5V to 0-5V and is rated to operate up to ±5V differential input ranges. The accepted input ranges are software selectable and programmable using the on-board SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) port. The board itself contains two identical, half-size evaluation boards and contains all necessary external components to evaluate the AD9642.
The board features an on-board power supply (consisting of a low-noise Linear Technology® L6130-CM voltage regulator) and an active filter (consisting of an LTC2751-1 precision operational amplifier with a wide common-mode voltage range and unity gain-bandwidth of 1.2MHz) for low noise performance. The active filter also provides precise input gain control, low-drift characteristics, and overload protection. The board also features an on-board OLED display (LEDs with power status) to help evaluate the performance of the AD9642.
The AD9642-250EBZ Evaluation Board also includes an Analog Input Reference Buffer. The Input Reference Buffer provides unity gain buffering of analog signals from 0-2.5V to 0-5V at a maximum slew rate of 7V/μs. It features low 0.1% gain drift, low-value input capacitance, and high-impedance input to reduce load on the external analog signal source.
The AD9642-250EBZ Evaluation Board is designed to ease debugging of the AD9642. The board includes a host of features including two-command power up and down sequence for fast startups, power monitoring of AVDD, full-scale setting up to 4Vp-p, and output power adjustment of 0.5V, 1V, 2V, and 4V. Additionally, the board supports data output port synchronization and count control. Also, the board includes an 8-bit DAC calibration ref voltage at mid-scale, 0-3V rated reference output voltage, 0V-5V adjustable reference voltage, and 10-bit digital I/O and a current source to provide a constant current source for input voltage range selection.
