LM139A is a single supply quad voltage comparator. It was introduced in 1987 and developed by National Semiconductor Corporation. It contains four independent voltage comparators which have an on-chip reference voltage source. It uses current steering logic, which means that the input signals are compared to separate and different reference voltages. This has enabled designers to use theLM139A to compare four input signals with four separate reference signals. This makes the device very useful in many applications, including digital and multi-speed systems.

This device is made in a 14-Pin dual in-line package. It is capable of operating from a single -4.5 to + 30 volts supply. It can also survive an input signal range of -30 to +30 volts without damage. It is also capable of driving loads up to 25mA at the output. This makes it suitable for most applications requiring a high power comparator IC.

The LM139A is mainly used in applications which require ultra-high accuracy and low-power consumption. It is excellent for use in low-power switching applications, such as communications and industrial process control. It is also effective in signal conditioning and analog to digital conversion.
