1. Describe

The non-ideal characteristics of a true capacitor can be ignored at low frequency. Physical size imparts capacitor inductance and Dielectric and metal electrodes cause resistive losses, but these usually have negligible effects on the circuit. These effects become important at the very high frequencies of radio communications (>100MHz) and satellite systems (>1GHz). Recognizing that a true capacitor will exhibit inductive and resistive impedances in addition to capacitance, the ideal capacitor for these high frequencies is an ultra-low loss component that can be fully characterized in all parameters and can vary from one unit to Another unit with full repeatability. Until recently, most high frequency/microwave capacitors were based on fired ceramic (porcelain) technology. Ceramic dielectric material layer Interleaved with metal alloy electrode paste, then sintered into High temperature oven. The technique exhibits component variability in dielectric quality (loss, permittivity, and insulation resistance), variability in electrode conductivity, and variability in physical dimensions (affecting inductance).
