Fuses

0675002.MXEP is a fuse that falls into the category of time-delay fuses. They are a special type of fuse that delay the interruption of the electrical current for a certain amount of time.Time-delay fuses feature a slower response time so as not to disrupt downstream electronics. Due to the nature of their construction, time-delay fuses are ideal for applications that require protection from inrush currents, motor starts, lighting, transformers, and heavy appliance motors.

Application Field

0675002.MXEP is commonly used in automobiles, especially in the high-voltage power grid system. They can also be used in factories, machine tools, and in the power distribution system of shopping malls, theaters, large markets and hospitals. Moreover, it is especially suitable for any devices and electric motors which require power protection and slow-action to protect AGAINST DIFFERENT SURGES.

Working Principle

The fuse element is made of lead-tin alloy specifically designed to melt at a certain current. When an AC or DC power source is connected to the fuse, the current flow through the element begins to heat up the element. As more current passes through the element, the temperature of the element increases until it reaches the melting temperature of the element. The melting of the element open the fuse\'s contacts, interrupting the current flow.

Once the element has melted and opened the contacts, an indicator in the fuse assembly, usually an electrode, confirms the interruption of the circuit. In this way, the fuse prevents higher levels of overcurrent from potentially damaging downstream components.
