1.5KE33ARL unidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diodes are based on unique semiconductor technology and provide superior bidirectional overvoltage protection. Also known as Transil diodes, this device effectively protect three-terminal systems, and other sensitive circuitry, from transient overvoltage.
Application Field
1.5KE33ARL TVS diodes are used widely in telecommunication and industrial fields, and are designed to protect any device and system from transient voltage surge. They are mainly used in portable and mobile communications, as well as automotive and aerospace applications. Furthermore, they have good performance over a wide temperature range: from - 55°C to + 150°C. In addition, parts of this series are also popular used in the protection of personal computers, peripherals and digital home network devices such as modems, LAN and WLAN cards, etc..
Working Principle
This device consists of a Zener diode and a PN junction to provide superior clamping capability that protects sensitive devices from high-energy voltage spikes. When an inbound transient overvoltage passes through the diode, the Zener diode triggers a high-voltage avalanche breakdown and thus causes the junction to turn off. This forward-biased clamping voltage creates a snapback voltage at the PN junction that clamps the transient overvoltage, and also shorts the overvoltage to the ground. This process significantly reduces the voltage above the peak threshold, thus protecting the device from damaging overvoltages.
