When exposed to an over-voltage, a TVS diode rapidly begins to conduct current with a nearly ideal clamping voltage. It operates by limiting the maximum transient voltage level. The current conduction occurs almost instantly and the parasitic capacitance of the TVS diode is kept at a minimum to ensure minimal propagation delay. When the over-voltage condition dissipates, the TVS diode will switch off and return to its non-conducting state. Due to the precise manufacturing process, the TVS diode also exhibits soft recovery characteristics and low clamping voltages, making it ideal for fast switching applications.Conclusion
