When the diode is biased in the forward biased direction, current flows from the anode to the cathode through the pn junction plane, and the excess electron of the n type semiconductor is attracted by the holes of the P type. In this way, the energy released by the recombination of electrons and holes in the n type and p type can be converted into light energy, and the pn junction plane generates light radiation. The color, brightness, and signal intensity of the LED are adjustable according to the current. For these LEDs, the current passes through a resistor in the circuit to limit the current. Generally, the current passes through the LED must be in the specified range (or the required luminous intensity level.) Otherwise, the current is too high or too low, it will damage or even burn out LED.
