Working Principle

The 15BHLE2-50E is composed of a strip of copper braid wrapped around a ceramic core – a cartridge that is combustible and able to withstand intense heat. The ceramic core is then fitted within a metallic containment container and the anode and cathode poles forged from tin-plated zinc, are connected to the contacts of the enclosure.

When an excessive current flows in a circuit, the cartridge’s temperature increases dramatically, causing it to expand in size and rupture the circuit. This prevents any further surge in current, preventing potential harm to associated components and cables. The fused circuit is then disabled and the damaged component replaced before the fuse is returned to its original position.

In addition, 15BHLE2-50E fuse often features a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) resistor that often fails in the open state when current reaches the maximum allowed limit of the fuse. When this happens, the fuse restores to its original state once the current levels fall below the threshold.
