Power line filter modules typically incorporate one or multiple components such as capacitors, inductors and other passive or active components. In this way, they are able to drastically reduce electromagnetic interference from both surrounding electrical equipment and/or the power lines themselves. This is why, power line filter modules are important components in the operation of most modern electrical systems.
The 15ET1 is one such example of a power line filter module. This module is a combination of 3 capacitively and inductively coupled filter circuits, commonly known as a 3-pole filter. It is meant for three-phase applications, with each pole specifically engineered to eliminate common mode interference. It has a heavy-duty construction, with a secure housing and strong protection against dust or other environmental contaminants.
The 15ET1 module can be described as being a differential type filter, coupled to the power line. The main goal of the filter is to reduce any current disturbances from the main power line, while allowing the normal signal voltage to be preserved. This is done by having 3 differentitudal filters working in tandem to fix any common mode disturbances seen on the power line.
Each one of the 3 poles has its own particular circuit consisting of a capacitor for storing energy and an inductor to create the phase change. In addition, each pole also has a metal oxide varistor that is used to lock the circuit in place, while the last pole also contains a thermal fuse to handle any thermal overloads. An air core inductor is also utilized, which reduces costs and improves dependability.
For top efficiency, all components of the three poles should be directly connected to the power line via the filter module. The output current is then directly sent back to the source via its corresponding pole. The three-pole filter works by first storing the cation or current in the inductor and the capacitor, and then changing the mathematical phase of the signal. This helps to reduce the surge in both current and voltage during transients, without significantly affecting the normal signal voltage.
The 15ET1 module is capable of handling current ratings up to 100A and can operate up to 600V in a three-phase application. It is also RoHS compliant and rated UL1283. It is a reliable and cost-effective solution and is suitable for many applications in commercial, industrial, and residential markets. It can be used for power generation, motor drives, power supply, or in inverter applications.
