The 15KP200CA-TP provides superior ESD and surge protection, as well as low leakage current,thanks to its Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) design. Its reverse breakdown voltage,clamping voltage, and surge peak power dissipation ratings help it maintain its excellent performance in these applications even when the device is subjected to severe ESD or transient spikes. The device is capable of handling as much as 15A (8/20µs) of peak current in ESD protection mode and 40A (8/20µs) of peak current in surge protection mode, making it suitable for devices with high current applications.

The working principle of the 15KP200CA-TP TVS is based on the avalanche breakdown phenomenon. When an ESD spike or other voltage transient breaches the device’s standoff voltage, it triggers a plasma discharge in the device. This discharge causes the voltage across the device to exceed the device’s breakdown voltage, which prevents any further voltage transients from passing through or damaging the protected device.
