Film capacitors, also known as plastic film capacitors or film dielectric capacitors, are passive electronic components made up of a thin insulator known as a dielectric material and two metal plates. The dielectric material acts as the medium for storing charge, and the metal plates act as the two electrical contacts (or electrodes) that allow the capacitor to transfer electric charge in and out of the dielectric material. The dielectric material most commonly used in film capacitors is polyester, although many other types of films exist. The type of film used affects the overall performance, stability, and longevity of the capacitor.

The 168104K63A-F is a class X1 type film capacitor, designed to provide added safety for applications in line with IEC/EN60384-14 standards. It has a rated voltage of 250V and a tolerance of ±10%. It is a polarised capacitor with radial leads and insulation wrapping that covers the line of solder.
